Vivi's Big Girl Room - Toddler Room Inspiration

First of all, before I dive head first into the current design obsessions in my head, I just have to say thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart, for reading my last post.

The responses have been overwhelmingly supportive and, as it turns out, a lot of you have been going through something similar.

What is it about entering your thirties that makes you reassess your entire life

I never could have dreamed while I was writing it that it would have that kind of effect on others.   Thank you for reading, supporting, lamenting with me, reaching out to me, listening, stopping by and just flat out being YOU!

You are the reason I feel good about Everyday Enthusiastic!

Now, onto the delicious good stuff that is Vivi's Big Girl Room...

So here's the thing - Vivi is 2 and a half and she loooooves her crib.  I am thankful for this because we haven't had to go through the whole climbing out situation yet.  However, I am so ready to start styling her toddler room that I can hardly stand it.

Even though her nursery isn't bad, it was never actually completed [though I'm not sure any area ever really is].  Plus, I want a room for her that is interactive, fun and playful and her nursery just feels too babyish for the big girl she is becoming.

The elements that I find critical for her new toddler room include a reading nook or space, an interactive wall [or at least spot on the wall], a super stellar rug, and of course, a ton of playful DIY details.

Light Mint wall color

I love the idea of this color because it's just the subtlest hint of mint that is so light, it will act almost like a white backdrop.  This color will make all the other crazy colors I throw into the room pop. I'm envisioning the walls being like icing on a cake and the colors in the room being like glowing candles and sprinkles.  All colors listed above are Behr

Brass Ceiling Pendant/Chandelier

Super stylish and just a touch of glam.  You know, since she's 2 1/2 going on 16.

Aztec-Style Rug

The rug on the left, the Painted Desert Rug from Lulu and Georgia, is my absolute favorite.  Currently, it is out of stock.  I literally wept huge, salty tears when I saw this.  I still like the other rug from Urban Outfitters, but I think I'll wait a bit to see if the Painted Desert Rug is restocked.

A Reading Nook

Because seriously, what kiddo doesn't want their own little private hideout to snuggle in with a good book??

Interactive Sensory Wall

I love the idea of Vivi's room being a place for her to interact with not only her toys, but the room itself.  Things should feel good to the touch.  Decor should be appealing to view.

Most importantly perhaps, her room should be a place for her to enrich her mind and thrive.  I want it to be exciting and interesting to a toddler's eyes.  Ultimately, I want her room to be more than just a place to sleep.

Hopefully I can start getting her room together soon.  I'm really happy with the direction my gut is taking me right now and I can't wait to hear what you think of the foundational design!  Have redone your kiddos room lately?  I'd love to hear about your experience!  Share with me below!
